
Mozambique: President – Guebuza Praises Journalists
Maputo — Mozambique's President, Armando Guebuza congratulated on Monday two Mozambican journalists winners of SADC (Southern African Development Community) Media Award 2010. The two winners are Boventura Mandlate from the state's Radio Mozambique (RM), who addressed the issue of infrastructures in the regional integration process, while Alfredo Mueche of the weekly paper "Domingo", won in the category of photojournalism by depicting the problem of water in Mozambique.
During the meeting with Mozambican journalists covering the 30th SADC Ordinary Summit, Guebuza urged the winners to proceed with their good work because they have made proud both the institutions they represent and the Mozambican nation.
"We are proud because there are Mozambican journalists among the winners of the SADC Media Award 2010", said Guebuza.
As for the celebrations of the 30th SADC anniversary, Guebuza said in the messagewritten in a special publication, that this is an anniversary to value freedom and the realization of this regional bloc's dreams.
The 30th anniversary, said Guebuza, is an opportunity for reflection on past glories and victories, and to draw inspiration for the challenges lying ahead.
The Summit ends this Tuesday, and it is expected to make decisions on issues that dominated most of the discussions, including peace and security, energy and infrastructures development, poverty alleviation, job creation, food security, gender and mitigation of HIV / AIDS pandemic.
